TaylorMade introduces all-new P·790 irons

TaylorMade has launched the latest addition to its P·Series irons – the all-new P·790 design.

The players distance irons (RRP £179 per iron) aim to deliver increased carry distance with a forged feel and larger sweet spot, to give golfers greater consistency and performance.

The irons utilise a new forged face material – 4340M – which is 20% stronger, allowing engineers to design a face which is thinner and faster than previous models. These properties increase the coefficient of restitution (COR), delivering faster ball speeds and longer carry distances, while giving the new model a sweet spot which is up to 24% larger than the 2023 P·790 design.

Through T-modal analysis, each head has also been engineered to control the frequencies that ultimately dictate feel and sound at impact. They have also been made more stable thanks to repositioning up to 40g of tungsten internally, with unique configurations inside each head.

Meanwhile, Thick-Thin Back Wall Construction features honeycombed cutouts puzzled across the internal back wall to remove excess weight from above the strike zone. A Thru-Slot Speed Pocket is also found in the 4-7 irons, expanding the sweet spot toward the lower part of the face where most mishits occur. SpeedFoam Air also fills the hollow body construction.

For 2025, the topline has also been slimmed down. Each sole has also been uniquely designed, with the long irons featuring an increased sole radius with a progressive bevelled leading edge through the set for consistent turf interaction and improved impact locations.
