Five players from across the region to represent England and Scotland at European Team Championships

Players from across the region have been selected to represent England and Scotland at the men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ European Team Championships.

The four events take place across the continent on July 7-11.

Ponteland’s Louisa Hamilton will represent Scotland’s girls’ team at Golf and Country Club in Zurich, Switzerland. She will team up with Carly McDonald (St Regulus Ladies), Erin Huskie (Stirling), Hannah Ounap (Loudoun), Holly McKenzie (Murcar Links) and Melissa Keay (Ralston).
England’s men will be looking to improve on last year’s bronze medal as they travel to Estonian Golf & Country Club for the European Amateur Team Championship. England are the most decorated nation at the event, having won 11 times and finished runners-up on 10 occasions – the last win coming in 2013 in Denmark. The team will include Lindrick-based Tom Osborne alongside Eliot Baker (Tiverton, Devon), Seb Cave (Coxmoor, Warwickshire), Sam Easterbrook (Olton, Warwickshire), Lewy Hayward (Marlborough, Wiltshire) and Harley Smith (The Rayleigh Club, Essex).

England’s women’s team is the most decorated nation in the history of the European Ladies’ Team Championship, having won 12 times and been runners-up seven times. They will be searching for a first win since 2022 when they travel to Ireland to play at Slieve Russell PGA National. The team will include Huddersfield’s Lily Hirst and The Longhirst Club’s Charlotte Naughton alongside Sophia Fullbrook (The Melbourne, Hertfordshire), Nellie Ong (Eaton, Norfolk), Patience Rhodes (Burnham & Berrow, Somerset) and Davina Xanh (Burnham & Berrow, Somerset).

England’s boys’ team has won the most gold medals at the European Boys’ Team Championship (eight) but will be hunting a first win since 2004 at Barceló Montecastillo Golf in Spain. The boys’ side will include Doncaster-based George Cooper alongside Aaron Moody (Burhill, Surrey), Frankie Morton (Orsett, Essex), Cole Self (Ringway, Cheshire), Ben Sessions (Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire) and George Whitehead (Hillside, Lancashire).

England’s girls’ team will be aiming to repeat their 2024 success when they won the European Girls’ Team Championship in Sweden for just the second time. After missing out in the quarter-finals last time out on home soil at Slaley Hall, the team heads to Zurich Golf & Country Club in Switzerland. The girls’ side will feature Lauren Crump (Hill Valley, Shropshire), Mia Ingham (Sunningdale, Surrey), Daisy Lee (Lancaster, Lancashire), Ellie Lichtenhein (The Buckinghamshire, Buckinghamshire), Annabel Peaford (Walton Heath, Surrey) and Elizabeth Wilson (Norwood Park, Nottinghamshire).
