TaylorMade introduces Stealth 2 family of carbonwood drivers, fairway woods and hybrids

Following in the footsteps of the ground-breaking Stealth carbonwoods, TaylorMade has launched the Stealth 2 family for 2023.

The new line-up of drivers – Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD and Stealth 2 HD Women’s – combine the speed of Stealth with technological advancements that create a new level of forgiveness.

Building on the speed-producing success of the original 60X Carbon Twist Face that optimised energy transfer for fast ball speeds, the new face design in Stealth 2 features an advanced version of Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) designed to maintain ball speed on off-centre strikes and increase forgiveness.

A more pronounced ICT produces a thinner face on the edges and a thicker centre face, engineered to spread speed around the perimeter. Stealth 2’s face weighs just 24g (2g lighter than Stealth) and is designed to have an expanded COR area for a larger sweet spot and boosted performance across the entire face.

Stealth 2 is the first driver in TaylorMade’s history that has more carbon (including composites) than any other material by volume, with a 75% increase in carbon in Stealth 2 Plus and nearly double in Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 HD compared to Stealth.

With the increase in carbon – which makes up the crown, Carbon Reinforced Composite Ring, sole and face – comes the ability to relocate mass for a higher moment of inertia (MOI) and optimal centre of gravity location. The additional carbon has enabled engineers to increase total MOI in the Stealth 2 Plus driver by 9% from Stealth Plus. The only parts made of metal in Stealth 2 clubheads are the titanium collar on the front of the club that holds the hosel and frames the face, and the front and rear weights which vary by model.

The Carbon Reinforced Ring provides constructional strength, durability and mass savings that allowed engineers to form a more complex and functional shape.

Stealth 2 also maintains various technological innovations from Stealth – including the 60X Carbon Twist Face encased by a polyurethane nanotexture cover, the Inertia Generator which remains the foundational source of refined aerodynamic properties, and the flexible Thru-Slot Speed Pocket design to maximise ball speeds and boost forgiveness on low-face strikes.

Meanwhile, sound has been refined through a combination of carbon panel curvature, shape, and thickness to finely tune acoustics.

When it comes to the three new models, Stealth 2 Plus (RRP £529) is the lowest spinning driver in the family. It incorporates a 15g sliding weight track, designed to help golfers dial in shot shape by shifting mass on the sole.

The Stealth 2 (RRP £499) delivers high MOI performance with a heavy 25g tungsten weight positioned on the Inertia Generator. The TSS (TaylorMade Swingweight System) weight is located on the sole to encourage optimal launch and spin properties, delivering complete performance while allowing the driver to be tuned for swingweight.

In Stealth 2 HD (RRP £499), engineers utilised weight savings from the full-body carbon construction to shift the Inertia Generator with its heavy 30g weight closer to the heel, creating high launch and draw-bias with extreme MOI.

The carbon ring on Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 HD stands out with its red finish and visible at address, unlike Stealth 2 Plus with its black carbon ring.

Finally, the Stealth 2 HD Women’s driver (RRP £499) features a lighter head weight than the HD model and a unique colourway. It is designed to enhance clubhead speed, while maintaining a high launch with a draw bias.

There is also the option to customise your driver with the My Stealth 2 Plus programme (RRP £599). The advanced personalisation options include nine face colours, six ring colours, a choice of gloss or matt crown finishes, a black or white top line, the option to remove the sightline logo, and black or silver weight colours.

The Stealth 2 family also includes a suite of new fairways woods and hybrids.

The line-up features breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs, with the flagship Stealth 2 Plus fairway wood (RRP £379) incorporating a 50g sliding weight on the sole. This weight allows for three main settings – a versatile central position; a low spin, low launch forward position; and a more forgiving back setting.

There’s also the Stealth 2 fairway wood (RRP £299), which features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown that pushes centre of gravity down and pulls mass away from the high toe area for optimal forgiveness and maximum playability, and new HD and HD Women’s options (RRP £299) with an ultra-high MOI and oversized 200cc heads.

The family is finished off with a quartet of hybrids – Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD and Stealth 2 HD Women’s – each designed with a specific golfer and performance goal in mind.

Stealth 2 Plus (RRP £249) features a compact tour-inspired shape that lends itself to enhanced shot making, while the Stealth 2 (RRP £239) sits in the middle of the line-up, and Stealth 2 HD (RRP £239) and Stealth 2 HD Women’s (RRP £239) utilise a larger but lower overall profile along with internal draw-bias weighting to deliver high launch and easy-to-hit performance.
