Jess Hall picked for European Concession Cup team

Bishop Auckland’s Jess Hall has been selected for the European team for the 2024 Concession Cup – which takes place November 4-9 at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Georgia.

The fifth playing of the Ryder Cup-style event between the top mid-am and senior amateur players in the USA and Europe will include women’s matches for the first time this year. Jess was selected as part of the European team having risen to fourth in Europe, and ninth in the world, in the mid-am rankings (for players aged 25 and over).

European captains Tore Sviland and Elaine Ratcliffe will lead their 24-player team against US captains Danny Yates and Carol-Semple Thompson. Tore and Danny return as men’s captains, with past Curtis Cup captains Elaine and Carol leading the women’s sides vying for the Thompson-Bonallack Trophy.

The 2022 match – played in Valderrama, Spain – came down to the last match as the US team pulled off an away victory. Many of the same players return on the men’s side, and the European team represents several European countries – including former Northumberland county player Mathew Mclean from Ireland. Team USA has a mix of new and old faces, including the 2024 US Mid-Am champion Evan Beck and US Senior Am winner Louis Brown.

The matches include an am-am as well as fourball, foursomes and singles matches played over three days at the Korn Ferry Tour venue.
