Rachel Gourley continued her sensational start to the season – which has included wins in the Sunningdale Foursomes and Leveret Trophy – with victory in the Scottish Girls’ Open.
Arcot Hall-based Rachel came out on top following an epic dual with Germany’s Philipa Gollan on the final day.
Rachel and Philipa pulled away from the field early in the second round and reached the sixth hole on the final day tied at three under-par.
Still tied after 16 holes, the crucial moment of tournament came on the 17th as Philipa made a double bogey. Rachel made a solid par to take a two-shot advantage down the last – where she made another par to complete a bogey-free round of 68 and win the event.
Rachel said: “It’s an amazing feeling, I played well all week and knew it was going to be tough with the conditions.
“I was playing with Philipa, which meant I knew what I was going to have to do. It was just about keeping calm and trying not to make too many mistakes.
“This means the world to me; it has been a goal of mine for years and to have finally done it feels amazing. These are some of the best players in the world, and to know I can perform under those conditions and those pressures is a good feeling.”
