The Feb/Mar 24 edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region now
Spring is coming, and we’ve got a packed edition of Northern Golfer to help whet your appetite for what lies ahead.
England international Charlotte Naughton stars on our first cover of 2024, having added so much to the North East’s success in the women’s game at the age of just 15. A national winner, Charlotte was selected for the England Golf girls’ squad at the end of 2023 and deserves the spotlight we’ve given her in this edition to share what that’s been like, and what she wants to achieve this season and beyond.
As well as Charlotte, we have lots more positive news from familiar faces in this edition – from newly minted Challenge Tour member Rhys Thompson to 2023 men’s Champion of Champions Harrison Sewell, and English Amateur champion Ben Brown.
Speaking of the English Amateur, we’re counting down the days until the best male and female amateurs arrive in the region to compete for the titles at Seaton Carew and Hartlepool. The event, which is among the many to look forward to in our 2024 diary, will undoubtedly be a highlight in the club’s 150th anniversary celebrations. We’ll have lots more from Seaton throughout the year, including coverage of the first Seaton Ladies Salver scratch event in May.
A little further up the coast, we’ve also enjoy a round on the historic links of Alnmouth Village, and delved into the fascinating history of the club.
We’ve also caught up with our columnists, including Simon Olver on some positive experiences to start the year. We also have new columnists for 2024 – with the Ross Jackson Golf team joining us in every edition to share advice on our Tips page. First up is Lewis Garbutt, and we’ll be getting expert help from Ross, James and Fletch in the coming months.
Match Play Pairs is back for its 23rd year too, with an enhanced prize package to be won thanks to our partnership with Albatross Golf Holidays & Events – click here to be part of this year’s event.
Enjoy this edition, get booked in for a fitting and/or some lessons, and get your practice in… spring is coming!
