Award winners have been recognised at the 2025 Ladies European Tour (LET) Season Launch in London – which brought together partners, promoters and sponsors of the tour.
Voted for by LET members, representatives from four events collected awards recognising sustainability initiatives, player services, course conditions, and the tournament of the year.
LET member Sára Kousková and Jonathan Smith, founder and executive director of the GEO Foundation, presented the award for Sustainability Initiative 2024 to The Dutch Ladies Open – with the award accepted by Jelle Sprée, manager of Events NGF.
The Hilversumsche Golf Club – a GEO Certified Venue – staged the 2024 edition for the second consecutive year, with NGF only allowing venues with the accreditation to host its tournaments.
Some of the initiatives that took place across the week covered cycling, water stations, the use of recycled materials, and the junior pro am.
Earlier in the day, Sára was named the GEO Foundation’s Sustainable Golf Champion – becoming the third LET player to be recognised for their sustainability efforts, along with Norway’s Suzann Pettersen and France’s Camille Chevalier.
“I’m so passionate about this subject and having a credible partner, the GEO Foundation, is a great way to formalise a lot of the concepts I have in mind,” said Sára. “The main goal is to get even more people on board, raise awareness, and inspire the next generations. We all live such busy lives but even taking small steps to lead a more sustainable life makes such a difference. The Sustainable Golf Champion Program will help me address my unavoidable carbon footprint and offset it through global and local climate and nature projects. In turn this will support me to go out and advocate more efficiently.”
LET player and board member Liz Young presented the award for Best Player Services 2024 to La Sella Open, which took place at La Sella Golf Resort in Spain. 2024 marked its second edition on the LET calendar, with Helen Briem securing her maiden LET title. The award was accepted by Carlos Garcia, La Sella golf director. The event received recognition from players for its high level of service from on-site logistics and catering to shuttle services and overall player experience.
Carlos said: “We are delighted to win this award. This is very important to us because we create the tournament for the players, and this award means we’re on the right path and doing the right thing. We push it to be the best it can be for all those involved with the LET.”
Catriona Matthew presented the award for Best Course Condition 2024 to Carton House, Fairmont – which hosted the KPMG Women’s Irish Open. The promoters, Simon Honan and Jeff Scollard from ForeFront Group, accepted the award.
The KPMG Women’s Irish Open was also named Tournament of the Year 2024. The award was presented to Simon by LET CEO Alexandra Armas. Following the success of the 2024 tournament, which welcomed a record-breaking 37,000 spectators, the LET will return in 2025 from June 30-July 6. Tournament organisers have also announced an increased prize fund of €450,000.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to accept this award on behalf of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open,” said Simon. “It’s been a 12-month long project for us and it’s a true testament to the incredible team, volunteers, and partners who made the event possible. It shows the hard work that goes into delivering the tournament to provide the highest quality player services and experience across all aspects. We’re looking forward to the 2025 edition.”
England’s Annabel Dimmock, who won the event, added: “Congratulations to the KPMG Women’s Irish Open for winning Tournament of the Year and Best Course Condition. I was so proud to get my second LET win in Ireland, and it was an amazing week with so many fans coming out to watch. The course was great, Carton House did an excellent job, and I also want to thank ForeFront for all their hard work in putting on a fantastic tournament once again.”
The 2025 LET season kicks off in Morocco with the Lalla Meryem Cup, which takes place February 6-8.
