England Golf has named its four-player team for The Spirit International Amateur Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas on November 10-15.
Rotherham-based US Amateur champion Jack Whaley and Tyler Weaver (Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk) have been selected to represent the men, while Longhirst Club-based European Ladies’ Amateur champion Charlotte Naughton and Sophia Fullbrook (Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire) have been picked for the women as England aim to retain the title they won in 2024. Since the competition began in 2001, the England team has won the overall title three times.
England Golf deputy performance director Steve Burnett said: “The biennial Spirit International offers our leading players an end-of-year team test like no other in amateur golf.
“The strength of the international field, and the unique format of the competition held over one of the most challenging golf courses in the US, guarantees a competitive environment for our players like no other they will experience in their early careers. In Charlotte, Sophia, Jack and Tyler we have selected a team capable of putting up the strongest defence possible following our win in 2024.”
