Entries open for men’s county events in Northumberland

The Northumberland Union of Golf Clubs has announced details of its four biggest events in 2024 – with bookings now open online.

The County Championship, which consists of strokeplay qualifying followed by matchplay, will be hosted by Matfen Hall June 29-July 6.

The 72-hole County Strokeplay Championship will be hosted by The Northumberland Golf Club on June 8-9

The North & South Trophy will take place on May 4 on Close House’s Filly Course, while the Fenwick-Smith Trophy will be hosted by Gosforth Golf Club on August 10.

Players competing in all four of the county’s individual scratch events can enter for a single fee of £85 (saving £20). This option is available until February 29. All eligible players (those with handicap indexes not exceeding 7.4 at time of booking) are also able to enter each event separately.

Meanwhile, the season-opening Inter County Foursomes will be hosted by Bamburgh Castle and Warkworth golf clubs in April – before the Northumberland and Durham finals, and the overall final, are hosted by Whitley Bay Golf Club.
