Beamish Park’s Alex Stevenson shot rounds of 77 and 73 to beat Darlington’s Ella Crang in the Durham County Ladies’ Golf Association Junior County Championship at Durham City.
Alex, who holds a handicap of one, posted a two-round total of 150 as Ella shot rounds of 77 and 78 for a 155 total. Barnard Castle’s Cara Weddell won the prize for the best nett score as she finished third overall.
Alex said: “Winning the junior championship was a great way to end a tough season. I’ve played some good golf this year in spells, defending my club championship title at Beamish Park and representing England Schools for the first time having been trying to make the team for four years.
“I’ve now got the college season to look forward to as captain of Durham Sixth Form Centre before I play in some of the big events next summer and then hopefully head off to Western Kentucky University for a golf scholarship.”
