Prudhoe Golf Club’s seniors team made a successful defense of the Seniors Team Challenge with a convincing 16 points victory at their own course.
The eight-man Prudhoe team took full advantage of being at home to register 281 points and repeat their victory from 2019 as two-time winners Seaham finished in second place with Newcastle United and Consett joint third.
Now in its 12th year, the challenge tournament was first played in 2010. Each of the 11 clubs fields teams of eight players with all eight stableford scores counting.
Prudhoe seniors captain Peter Whitlock said: “I’m delighted we won the challenge again. All the lads performed very well and congratulations to Colin Rothwell for winning the individual title with 40 points. We hope to defend our title next year and continue to develop our friendships with the other clubs.”
