Libby Bell and Rachel Gourley have been named in England’s six-strong team for the upcoming U16 girls’ international match against Ireland.
Libby (Gosforth Park Ladies) and Rachel (Arcot Hall) will team up with Rafiah Banday (Royal Mid Surrey GC, Surrey), Louise Burke (Broadstone GC, Dorset), Lydia Cryer (Nelson GC, Lancashire) and Lottie Woad (Farnham GC, Surrey) for the match at Hunstanton Golf Club in Norfolk on October 12-13.
Chair of selectors and women’s performance manager Becca Hembrough said: “The girls all have some experience of international matches with Lydia, Louise, Lottie and Rachel representing England against Switzerland as recently as August.
“But for all the girls, the more times they are exposed to international competition the better it will be for their development. As the girls build towards competing at European level and in Home Internationals, this is another important step on that pathway.”
The format for the match will be two rounds of foursomes on day one and singles on day two. Last year’s event took place at Limerick and ended with a 15.5-8.5 win for England.
