Northumberland’s Rosie Belsham and Jess Baker joined some of the world’s best amateur golfers at the 2020 Major Champions Invitational at Lookout Mountain Golf Club in Arizona.
The event, which sees 18 major champions choose teams of four, brought together an international field of 72 male and female golfers. Rosie and Jess were selected by 2018 Women’s British Open champion Georgia Hall.
Over three rounds, Rosie finished in a tie for fifth place with rounds of 73, 71 and 68 for a four under-par total. Meanwhile Jess, who led the female event on day one, posted rounds of 67, 75 and 71 to finish in a tie for eighth place.
Zoe Antoinette Campos from the USA won the female event with an 11 under-par total. In the male event, Japan’s Yuki Moriyama finished on 12 under-par to take the title.
In the team event, Georgia’s team finished in ninth place as Nancy Lopez’s team won the title. Other team captains in the event included Jack Nicklaus, Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott and Annika Sörenstam.
The tournament was setup by six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo as part of his desire to provide more opportunities to young golfers, in addition to the Faldo Series events.
