Lookers Renault to partner the Northern Golfer Champion of Champions 2017 at Ramside Hall, while the men’s champion will receive a EuroPro start in the North

Lookers Renault, part of the national motor retailer, has been announced as the partner of the Northern Golfer Champion of Champions for 2017.

The brand, which has a dealership at Benfield Road, Newcastle, will be supporting the men’s, ladies and junior events, which take place at Ramside Hall in September.

Lookers Renault franchise director Colin Pybus, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Northern Golfer for the 2017 Champion of Champions events at Ramside Hall. The events will bring together some of the best golfers from across the North of England for what is sure to be one of the highlights of the golfing year.

“Lookers has many strong links with golf, including sponsoring the EuroPro Tour’s Lookers Championship at Close House in the last two years, so to be part of another premier event for the region is fantastic.”

Meanwhile, the men’s champion of champion for 2017 will earn a start at a EuroPro Tour event in the North for 2018. The winner will join the best young professionals in the UK & Ireland for a three-round event with the chance to compete on the third-tier tour which offers professionals the chance to earn a place on the following season’s Challenge Tour.

Following the success of the Northern Golfer Junior Champion of Champions events in 2015 and 2016, the event has been expanded for 2017 to reach the best female and male adults from the region.

The three invitational tournaments, which will be open to reigning club champions from across the North East and Yorkshire, take place over the Prince Bishops and Cathedral courses at Ramside Hall in Co Durham.

Helen Roseberry, director of golf at Ramside Hall, said: “We’re excited to host the Northern Golfer Champion of Champions events across our two wonderful courses this September.

“The timing couldn’t be better, coinciding with our 21st birthday celebrations and we can’t wait to welcome the best male, female and junior golfers from our region to Ramside for what are sure to be three memorable tournaments.”

Paul Robertson, editor of Northern Golfer, added: “I would like to thank Colin and Lookers for their support as well as Ramside Hall for hosting the event, and the EuroPro Tour for supporting the men’s event with a fantastic prize.

“The success of the Junior Champion of Champions inspired us to develop the idea to incorporate golfers of all ages. The return of the men’s event, which has had many notable champions, and the first ladies event will be highlights in a busy year for golf in our region.”

Club champions from Northumberland, Co Durham and Teesside, and selected clubs in the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and Yorkshire within Northern Golfer’s circulation area, will be invited to the events this summer. Letters will be sent to club secretaries in July with full details of the event and how to register for tee times.
