Harrison Sewell wins Northumberland & Durham Open

Harrison Sewell added his named to the region’s golfing history books by winning the Northumberland & Durham Open at Burgham Park.

First staged in 1950, the event brings together professionals and amateurs to compete over 36 holes. With rounds of 71 and 68, Harrison led the elite field by five shots with a five under-par total and became the first amateur to win the event since Chris Paisley in 2009.

Craig Goodfellow finished second to cement his place at the top of the NE/NW PGA’s Mizuno Order of Merit. Professionals James Harper and Mark Ridley, and amateurs Phil Ridden and Andrew Minnikin finished in a tie for third place.
