The NE/NW PGA’s Pro Series has come to an end with Vince Guest leading the Order of Merit after the six events.
Playing between March and May across the North East, Teesside Golf Club’s Guest won the opening event at Cleveland with a superb round of 68 before adding a tie for fourth at Westerhope (69), a tie for fifth at Brampton (73) and a tie for sixth at Sharpley (74) to lead Morpeth’s David Clark by 32.17 points in the Order of Merit.
Simon Robinson, Mark Watkins and James Wilkinson completed the top five as the Order of Merit continues this summer with four professional tournaments – the Northumberland and Durham Open at Rockliffe Hall, the PGA Championship at Bishop Auckland, the Tour Championship at Matfen Hall and the season-long matchplay tournament.
On the pro am circuit, Callum Tarren claimed the Andalucia Pro Am with 148 points – beating Simon Robinson by four as John Harrison and Michael Nesbit shared third place.
At Sharpley, John Harrison led the way with a round of 70 as Ryan Ingram was second (72) and three players – Andrew Betts, Andrew Scrimshaw and Josh Timmins – shared third (73).
In the two-day Archerfield Spring Pro Am David Clark lifted the title with 80 points, four clear of Michael Nesbit. Chris McDonnell and Jonathon Richardson shared third place with 73 points. At Rockliffe Hall, John Harrison and Callum Tarren shared the first prize with superb 68s.
