Ferrie rises to the top of NE/NW PGA order of merit

Ken Ferrie jumped to the top of the North East & North West PGA’s Mizuno Order of Merit with a first place finish in the Pro Series event at Bedlingtonshire.

Ken shot a four under-par 69 to share the winner’s cheque with Morpeth’s David Clark and secure enough points to rise to the top of the tightly packed order of merit. Morpeth-based David is currently in second place in the season-long points race, while Penrith’s Tim Dykes is in third place.

Meanwhile, Alex Wrigley opened his 2021 account on the circuit with victory in the Pro Series event at City of Newcastle, posting a superb nine under-par round of 63 to lead the field of 49 professionals by six shots.

The next Mizuno Order of Merit event, the NE/NW PGA Championship at Dunstanburgh Castle, takes place on Tuesday May 18. For more from the NE/NW PGA go to nenwpga.co.uk
