Entries open for Match Play Pairs 2024

Entry deadline: Sunday April 21

Entries are now open for the Northern Golfer Match Play Pairs tournament in partnership with Albatross Golf Holidays & Events.

The 2024 prize package has been enhanced by Albatross, which is run by North East-based PGA professionals Andrew Scrimshaw and Martyn Jobling, with this season’s winners set to receive an invitation to compete in Albatross’ Turnberry or Portuguese Pairs events in 2025 free of charge* along with £600 in prize vouchers. The runners up will meanwhile receive prize vouchers worth £100.

The 23rd Match Play Pairs event will see pairs of golfers from across the region compete in fourball betterball knock-out matches throughout the season at some of our best venues.

The entry fee remains £30 per pair, with the final set to take place in September.

As well as receiving their prize package, the winners will appear in Northern Golfer magazine and earn a place in the region’s golfing history books.

Albatross, which was created in 2018 to host pro ams and amateur events at some of the best courses in the UK and around the world, was relaunched as Albatross Golf Holidays & Events in October 2023 and today offers a full golf travel service catering to all golfers’ needs, working with tried and tested destinations across the globe.

“Partnering with Northern Golfer on an event was a fantastic opportunity for a growing golf travel company which is proudly based in the North East,” said Martyn. “Having proven ourselves through our events in the last five years, now is the right time to expand the offering into a full golf travel solution, and we’re delighted with our progress so far.”

“Our business is all about golf travel by the professionals,” added Andrew. “When we were looking at how to get that message out, and share that we now offer a complete package for every golfer’s needs – from relaxed breaks for small groups to tournament experiences on the world’s best courses – a partnership with Northern Golfer was our top priority.”
