Durham junior champions crowned at Wearside

Bishop Auckland’s Callum Brown and Wearside’s Millie Hixon were crowned Durham Boys’ and Girls’ champions respectively following the simultaneous championships at Wearside Golf Club.

Callum led the under-18 boys’ event with a two over-par total (71-73) as Heworth’s Jonathan Scott finished in second place. Millie meanwhile led the girls’ event with rounds of 81 and 76, beating Chester-le-Street-based Lucy Nimmo by two shots.

Meanwhile, the boys U18 nett title was won by Adam Dews Jr (Hobson), while Emily Holgate (Wearside) won the girls’ nett trophy.

Playing over 18 holes, Thomas Suggitt (Ramside) won the boys’ U16 gross title as Joshua Willey (Wearside) won the nett. Ollie Porteous (Rockliffe Hall) won the boys’ U14 event as Charlie Hancill (Wearside) won the U14 boys’ nett prize. In the girls’ 21-plus handicap competition, Evie Goodman (Castle Eden) won the gross title as Theresa Anderson (South Moor) won the nett prize.
