Romanby’s Daniel Brown will tee it up in the Open Championship at Royal Troon after making it through Final Qualifying.
Daniel was one of 16 players to earn a place in the 152nd Open through the 36-hole Final Qualifying events hosted by Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire.
Playing at West Lancashire, Daniel posted a five under-par total to finish in a tie for third place alongside Misahiro Kawawura as English amateur Matthew Dodd-Berry and LIV player Sam Horsfield led the field on six under-par.
Elsewhere, former US Open champion Justin Rose made it through qualifying at Burnham & Berrow alongside Amateur Championship runner-up Dominic Clemons, as Mexico’s Abraham Ancer and Sweden’s Charlie Lindh came through a three-man playoff for the final two spots.
At Dundonald, Englishman Sam Hutsby led the qualifiers on eight under-par as Spain’s Angel Hidalgo and Irish Walker Cup player Liam Nolan finished in a tie for second place. Local favourite Jack McDonald came through a three-man playoff for the final spot.
Englishman Matthew Southgate claimed the first qualifying place at Royal Cinque Ports with rounds of 61 and 67 for a six under-par total, as Australian Elvis Smylie and Spanish amateur Jaime Montojo finished in a tie for second place on three under-par. Spanish amateur Luis Masaveu earned the fourth spot by making it through a three-way playoff.
