Bedlingtonshire development teed up

Plans for a £1.62 million redevelopment of facilities at Bedligntonshire Golf Club have been set out.

The club has submitted plans for the construction of a new 24-bay floodlit all weather driving range in woodland to the west of the current site. A new centre of excellence, which will feature a café, function suite and training room along with washrooms and offices, will also be created.

A new community function suite is also planned through the extension of the existing clubhouse.

The scheme will be funded by the redevelopment of the club’s existing outdoor driving range at Acorn Bank, off the Hartford Road, for residential housing, in a move that could create up to 47 new two, three and four bedroom properties.

Kevin Beaney, chairman of Bedlingtonshire Golf Club, said: “This exciting proposal relocates the driving range and will significantly improve the facilities available for members of the club and the wider community. The range will create a state-of-the-art facility and will further develop our thriving junior development programme.”

Planning approval is expected in early 2020.
