City of Newcastle’s Andrew Minnikin came through a final-day battle with Harrison Sewell to win his fifth Northumberland Strokeplay Championship at The Northumberland Golf Club.
Andrew shot a superb seven under-par 65 in the final round to post a 12 under-par total (72-69-70-65) and claw back Harrison’s lead – winning by one from the 17-year-old from the host club.
Harrison (66-71-72-68) won the Under-18 Championship as the leading junior on day one – leading the field by 18 shots.
