Yorkshire’s Tom Martin has joined England Golf’s board of directors following the national governing body’s AGM.
Tom has begun an initial three-year term alongside Jane Bathurst from Surrey, and both will be eligible for re-election in 2029.
Tom brings a wealth of commercial and governance experience to the board, having enjoyed a long career in the IT industry from 1984 to 2013, holding senior roles focused on retail banking and cash-handling solutions. He also played a key role in delivering the UK’s first internet banking platform.
After leaving the corporate sector, he purchased and successfully ran a food manufacturing business until his retirement in 2025.
He joined the board of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs in 2024, serving on the county handicap committee, and is a Level 2 referee.
Tom’s connection to the game began as a junior at his local municipal course, where he later met his wife on the 17th tee and served as club captain in 1989/90. In 2025, he again took on the role of club captain, this time at Sand Moor, where he has also served as competition and handicap chair and greens chair. He is also a member at Goswick in Northumberland and holds a Handicap Index of 8.5.
“Being appointed as a director is a privilege, and I’m grateful for the trust placed in me,” said Tom. “Our members are at the heart of everything we do, and I’m committed to listening, supporting and championing their needs. I look forward to working with England Golf’s senior leadership team to continue the growth of the game and protect the traditions that make golf so special.”
Tom and Jane replaced Moira Page and Sue Milner on the board, while Surrey’s Debbie Richards – who represented Wales as a junior golfer – was inducted as England Golf president at the AGM at Woodhall Spa.
