James Walker has secured the PGA in Yorkshire Order of Merit title for 2026, successfully defending the title and claiming the rewards that come with it.
James, who is based at The Oaks, enjoyed another brilliant season locally – successfully defending the Yorkshire Open at Lees Hall and winning the association’s Matchplay title. He also finished T6 in the Yorkshire Masters and T7 in the Yorkshire Classic before closing out the season with a T16 finish in the Dawn Wilson Trophy.
With his win, James earned a spot in the Yorkshire team for the PGA Inter-County Championship at Hadley Wood on September 23-24. He’ll be joined in the event by OOM runner-up Reece Samson (Hickleton) – whose season included a win in the Yorkshire Championship, a T3 finish in the Yorkshire Masters, a T4 finish at the Yorkshire Classic, and reaching the semi-finals of the Matchplay.
James and Reece will also be heading to Bermuda to compete in the Goslings Bermuda Open at Port Royal on September 10-12 – with the winner of that event set to earn $10,000 and a spot in the PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship in October – with their costs covered by PGA in Yorkshire sponsors including Goslings and the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
