Region’s best heading to Final Qualifying for The Open

Top players from across the region will tee it up alongside some of the game’s biggest names in Final Qualifying for The Open after progressing through Regional Qualifying.

A total of 131 players came through Regional Qualifying at 15 venues across Great Britain and Ireland – and they will progress to Final Qualifying for the 153rd Open on Tuesday July 1 at Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports, and West Lancashire.

At Fulford, Ilkley-based amateur Huey Cunningham and Huddersfield-based amateur Habib Khan led the field with three under-par rounds. Also making it through were Michael Hay (Hunley Hall), Ashton Turner (Kenwick Park), Charlie Box (Kirby Muxloe), Joe Knox (Elsham), Ollie White (Pannal), Jack Peters (Northamptonshire County) and Ashley Mansell (Normanton).

At Lindrick, amateur Frazer Jones (Kirby Muxloe) topped the leaderboard with a three under-par score. He will be joined in Final Qualifying by Bailey Gill (Worksop), Oliver Sullivan (Phoenix), Julian Wood (Hallamshire), Sam Potter (Kedleston Park), Josh Crumplin (Disley) and Rob Harris (Lincoln).

Meanwhile, Rob Dinwiddie made it through at Ferndown, Huddersfield’s Nick Marsh made it through at Hesketh, and Penrith’s Adam Chapman qualified at Kilmarnock (Barassie).
