Northern Golfer #101 (Jun/Jul 2023) out now

The June / July 2023 edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region now

A hell of a lot has happened since our last edition in April/May – not least a rather welcome shift in the weather (at last!).

A packed Teeing Off section includes news of two of the region’s best professionals moving – John Harrison heading to Longhirst and JJ Vallely joining Elite Golf Academies along with a catch up with Jess Baker ahead of her Women’s Amateur defence; results from NE/NW PGA and amateur events; a welcome update from Bellingham Golf Club; a County Championship win for Jess Hall; an England debut for Charlotte Naughton; and lots more.

We’ve also enjoyed a short break at Alnmouth Golf Club to try out the dormy house and played the brilliant Bishop Auckland Golf Club.

As always, our columnists provide more fascinating insights too – with Chris Paisley back enjoying the grind of Tour Life; Simon Olver exploring ways to save money as costs rise; Shawn O’Neil looking at putting together fitness programmes; and Sean Russell discussing the good, bad and ugly bits of being a tour caddy.

Our cover star this month needs little introduction to many of you I’m sure. A leading figure in North East golf for more than 50 years, Chris Pascall took up the role of president of England Golf earlier this season. Judging by our conversation, she’s loved every minute of it so far and as you’ll read in this edition, she has a lot more to look forward to.

There’s also plenty of new gear to try out; a trip to Yorkshire in our Special Focus; the first round of the Match Play Pairs is in the record books; and there’s more competitions to be won including two Abacus Sportswear clothing prizes, and rounds at Alnmouth and Bishop Auckland.
