Jess Hall lifted the Durham County Ladies Golf Association Championship trophy at her home club – Bishop Auckland – winning the title for the fifth time in her career.
Jess, who is competing on the national amateur circuit this season, came into the event following a third-place finish in the Flogas Irish Women’s Amateur Open Championship at Woodbrook Golf Club – her third third-place finish of the season.
Having led the strokeplay qualifying with a five under-par round of 68, Jess overcame Amy Sutheran in the quarter-finals before beating Faye Wheatley in the semi-finals.
In the final, Jess completed a superb victory with a 6&5 win over Lucy Ashworth.
“It feels really good to be a five-time county champion, and win this event at Bishop Auckland having lost in the final the last time it was played here,” said Jess.
“It was good to continue the form I’ve been in over the last few weeks, making lots of birdies and scoring at a very high level in each round. I’m delighted to get this win and put my name on the trophy again.”
Following the win at home, Jess then went back on the road – competing in the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews ahead of the Women’s Amateur Championship at Prince’s.
“My game has stepped up in the last couple of months and I feel a win in a big tournament is coming, it’s just a matter of time.”
