Clark Dixon will launch Dixon’s Golf at Castle Eden Golf Club in December, following the retirement of Tim Jenkins.
After more than 40 years at the top of the golf industry in the North East, PGA professional Tim is retiring in December, with Clark – who has worked for Tim for more than five years – taking on the shop and becoming head professional at Castle Eden.
Clark – who joined the PGA three years ago and will graduate in early 2024 – said: “I’m excited to officially launch Dixon’s Golf and build on the fantastic training I’ve had under Tim at Cleveland and Castle Eden.
“I’ve learned a lot from Tim, who has built arguably the best pro shop business in the North East, and I want to maintain and build on the great start I’ve been afforded.”
While focusing on the retail which has made Castle Eden a destination for golfers from across the North East and beyond, Clark will also be continuing his coaching in the months and years ahead, and is hoping to play more competitive golf once his PGA qualification is complete.
“The role of a golf pro is so diverse,” he added. “Given the reputation of the pro shop at Castle Eden, retail will be my main focus – having a well-stocked, pro-active shop which offers all the major brands and superb customer service. From there, I want to continue my coaching – I have some very good elite players and a strong mix of club golfers visiting me regularly as well. Finally, with studying out the way, I hope to have some time to get out there and compete a little bit more next season.”
Led by Clark, the team includes PGA assistant Jake Heron – who has a degree in sports science and masters in psychology, and is a two-time winner of the PGA Assistant of the Year award. A third-year assistant, Jake coaches a wide range of players while helping grow the club’s successful ladies section. Meanwhile, second-year assistant Thomas Rowland – a former college golfer and mini tour player – will be combining his playing time with work at Castle Eden, including with the club’s junior academy.
Clark added: “With Jake and Thomas in the team, we have a young, enthusiastic group of professionals who want to offer an unrivalled service across the board. It’s going to be exciting, and I can’t wait to get going.”
Meanwhile, Andrew Brook will take on the pro shop operations at Cleveland Golf Club following Tim’s retirement.
