Lily Hirst wins The Comboy Leveret

Lily Hirst leads fields at Formby Ladies and Delamere Forest to win the combined Comboy Leveret World Amateur Golf Ranking event

Huddersfield-based Lily Hirst had a weekend to remember as she led the fields in both the Leveret Trophy and Comboy Scratch to win the combined Comboy Leveret, a World Amateur Golf Ranking event.

Lily topped the leaderboard in the Leveret Trophy at Formby Ladies on Saturday – with rounds of 75 and 73 giving her a two-shot win over Sophie Clafton (Wallasey).

On Sunday at Delamere Forest, she shot rounds of 71 and 70 for a five under-par total to win the Comboy Scratch by eight shots and claim the combined 72-hole title with an impressive 14-shot margin of victory.

“It’s a great feeling to win,” said Lily. “Going into the weekend, I put a bit of pressure on myself as one of the oldest and most experienced players in the field.

“The weather was so tough on both days – I’ve not played in conditions like that for a long time. Growing up in Huddersfield, we get our fair share of wind and rain, and drawing on that experience helped me a lot.

“It was so windy, you had to be able to get over bad shots as a lot of it was just down to the conditions. The key was controlling what I could and that mindset helped me on both days. I’m as proud of my mental performance as I am the scores.”

Having worked hard over the winter with the England Golf team, including Steve Robinson and Nick Soto, as well as her coach, Lysa Jones, Lily is looking forward to a busy season of amateur events across the UK and Europe.

“Winning in tough conditions at the start of the season sets me up for the rest of a busy year,” she added. “I’m feeling really positive. Having struggled for consistency in the last part of my college career in the US, I’ve grafted so hard over the last few months to build confidence and play positively again.”

Following the win, Lily picked up a T5 finish in the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open at Royal Troon, a T4 finish in the Rose Ladies Series event at West Lancashire, and a second place finish in the Welsh Women’s Open Stroke Play at Aberdovey.

“My results so far this year have been solid, and I’m hoping I can keep building on those and get my game to its absolute best this summer,” added Lily.

“I’ve got a busy schedule of national and European events, and there’s so much to look forward to.

“Having been a bit down at the end of 2025, I want to find my confidence again on the golf course this season. I’m not too focused on results, it’s about having the right mindset and putting everything I’ve done over the winter into practice.

“I do have some goals on the course, and I’d love to be part of the Curtis Cup. You can’t force that; you have to do your own thing and know consistent results will get you there.”
