Cobra Golf has launched its fifth generation King Tec and King Tec-X irons.
The improved King Tec line-up offers a combination of forged feel and looks with greater distance and forgiveness.
The King Tec irons – player’s distance irons aimed at 0-12 handicappers – feature refined shaping with a shortened blade length, softened topline and a tucked toe look. There’s also an updated pitching wedge with a flattened topline and straighter leading edge.
Improved feel is provided through a five-step forged hollow clubhead construction and enhanced foam microspheres that fill the clubhead and dampen vibration. After cooling, each clubhead is polished before the faces and grooves are CNC milled.
Built with a forged PWRSHELL face insert with H.O.T Face Variable Thickness Geometry that is thinner and more robust than previous Cobra irons, the new King Tec irons (RRP £1,069 (seven irons)) produce more rebound for faster speed and longer distance.
For added forgiveness, 20g of tungsten is placed in the low heel area of the clubhead to minimise clubhead twisting at impact. A progressive construction design features tungsten in the 4-7 irons for improved launch and carry, while the 8-GW do not feature tungsten to deliver a slightly more penetrating trajectory.
Meanwhile, the King Tec-X irons are designed for 10-20 handicappers looking for a premium game improvement iron.
Featuring a slightly larger profile, they also have a rounder and sleeker topline and reduced visual offset than previous generations.
Improved feel is provided by softer and lighter foam microspheres that fill the hollow clubhead and dampen vibration at impact. The King Tec-X design (RRP £1,069 (seven irons)) also incorporates Cobra’s PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face.
A 70g tungsten weight is suspended low in the clubhead for a lower centre of gravity and improved stability and forgiveness on off-centre hits. The suspended weight also allows the sole and face to flex, further enhancing ball speed and distance.
