Women’s Golf Day (WGD), the global celebration of women and girls playing golf, marked its 10th birthday in grand style around the globe.
The festivities kicked off on social media with WGD Palooza – featuring an interview with Suzann Petersen discussing her new venture Voxa as well as giveaways, content and exclusive offers from partners Full Swing, Troon, Golfbreaks, Ahead, Cutter & Buck and Omni Hotels & Resorts as well as Women’s US Open and WGD merchandise.
The celebrations then extended around the world May 27-June 3 with hundreds of WGD events taking place.
In Europe, highlights included events at venues including Royal Ascot Golf Club in the UK, La Cala Resort in Spain, Evian Resort Golf Academy in France, Binow Park and The Olympic Club in Poland, Ålands Golfklubb on the Ålands Islands in Finland, Marco Simone in Italy, and in the Kolašin village of Lipovo in Montenegro.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported and participated in the 10th Women’s Golf Day,” said founder Elisa Gaudet. “The golf facilities, organisers, sponsors, partners and golf industry professionals who help create this incredible community are investing in their future and taking action to support more women and girls getting into golf. Most importantly, we can see from the photos around the world just how much the women who participate in WGD events value them, look forward to them, and value the community which they are a part of.
“It is hard to believe we just completed 10 years of events. We started out wanting to create events geared to what women want and offering access to more facilities and now WGD has become a global movement. This is the result of hard work – all year long – by a dedicated team and collaboration from organisations that see the importance of investing in women and Women’s Golf Day. We especially want to thank the USGA, PGA of America and The R&A who continue to support WGD and our shared mission.”
