Warkworth’s men’s team completed the North Northumberland Golf League and Glendale Trophy double with victory over Goswick in the knockout final.
The Warkworth team beat Goswick 3-2 at Dunstanburgh Castle to win the knockout trophy – adding it to their scratch league success this season. The team topped the North Northumberland Golf League for the first time since 1982 with 117 points from their 12 matches as Rothbury finished second and Goswick’s team finished third.
Meanwhile, Wooler’s team led the Members League, played with handicaps, as Alnwick finished second and Dunstanburgh Castle claimed third place.
The Warkworth team will go on to represent the North Northumberland Golf League in the Dixon Cup at Whitburn on Sunday September 21. The event brings together the winning teams from the five North East men’s leagues, with the best six scores from seven players counting towards each team’s total.
