In its 125th anniversary year, Newcastle United Golf Club has appointed a new secretary and teamed up with sponsors ITPS.

Founded on June 4 1892, the club has named Mike Robinson as its new secretary. Mike brings with him a wealth of experience having worked in the golf industry for more than 30 years.

As well as the new appointment, the club has strengthened its links with Gateshead-based ITPS – specialists in IT communication and consultancy services.

Mick Jopling, financial director at ITPS and a member of the club, has had a major impact on developing the ties between the two.

Club captain Liam McNulty said: “As a member of the club, Mick has been very pro-active with all aspects of providing support and advice in helping take the club to the next level.

“Having established a strong presence with links to a large number of other local businesses, Mick has been able source a large amount of sponsorship revenue for the club. His company, ITPS, has made a significant input themselves in the form of scorecard sponsorship, tee box signage and corporate sponsors’ days. In particular, they have got right behind the two league teams in providing them with Under Armour team kit over the last few years and I know the team players are very grateful for this. I must offer special thanks to Mick and ITPS for all of their support.”
