Following another successful year of events across the region and beyond, 2020protour founders Chris Hanson and Adam Walker have set out their plans for the 2027 season.
Next season, the tour will stage all of its events on Mondays as it looks to make planning easier for the players taking part. Each event will also have a guaranteed first prize of at least £1,000. A minimum of 15 events will take place across the north of England, with the three-day Tour Final set to return to Macdonald Cardrona in the Scottish Borders on October 4-6.
“We had another great year in 2026 and we’re keen to continue improving what we do based on feedback from the players,” said Chris. “Our priorities remain the same – to offer affordable playing opportunities, pay out as much prize money as possible, and support players’ competitive ambitions.
“We’ve always tweaked and adapted what we do, and we’ve done the same for 2027. The move to a more consistent schedule is something our players have asked for, and we’ve worked with our host venues to deliver that.
“We’re also keen to visit premier courses and I think all the players will be delighted with the schedule we’ve built for next season. We’ll end the year at Macdonald Cardrona once again, and we’re excited to be heading back to a great venue for that event.
“There are lots of small improvements as well, like moving away from live scoring so players can focus on competing. We’ve also reduced our entry fees for several events, and added a new membership perk through our partnership with the Mawlytics performance platform – which our members get access to as part of joining the tour.
“We’re excited for 2027 and we’re looking forward to another busy year.”
The tour will once again welcome professionals and elite amateurs to compete together in 2027, with the tour experience for higher handicapped amateurs removed from the schedule.
The details of the first four events in 2027 – which will all have a two-player pro am format – have been announced. The season will begin at Huddersfield on February 15 before events take place at Crosland Heath (Mar 8), Cavendish (April 12) and Selby (April 26).
Further details are set to be announced in the coming weeks. For more information, including how to become a member of the tour, visit www.2020protour.co.uk
