TaylorMade has added to its line of high-MOI putters with the launch of the Spider Zero Torque (ZT) – designed to give golfers increased stability and consistency through its high-MOI design that utilises multi-material construction, onset hosel configuration, extreme perimeter weighting, and precise centre of gravity placement.
“Spider putters – renowned for their stability, alignment and roll – have been reengineered in the Spider ZT to feature a toe-up or face-forward balance configuration,” said Andrew Oldknow, director of product category, product creation at TaylorMade. “This design minimises torque and reduces the need for hand manipulation, promoting a more consistent stroke. As a result, the putter face remains squarer to the target line throughout the putting motion, enhancing directional control and building confidence at address and through impact.”
Available in standard (RRP £449), counterbalance (RRP £499) and long lengths (RRP £549), the Spider ZT putters utilise 100% milled multi-material construction featuring high-density 303 stainless-steel in the face and low-density 6061 aluminium in the back. Extreme perimeter weighting also enhances the putters’ high-MOI and enhanced stability dynamics. Three strategically placed TSS weights allowed TaylorMade engineers to triangulate CG properties to maintain a toe-up position.
When designing Spider ZT, engineers positioned the CG 25mm behind the face. This allowed them to bore the shaft directly in line with the CG with 1° of onset. This orientation reduces the amount of face twisting that occurs during the stroke and presets the shaft in a forward leaning position at address, eliminating the propensity for golfers to add loft at impact.
Spider ZT putters also feature a heel-to-toe cambered sole, True Path Alignment technology, and TaylorMade’s Pure Roll insert – made from a combination of Surlyn and aluminium with grooves that are angled at 45° to promote forward roll while also enhancing sound and feel.
The Spider ZT standard length putters come in lengths of 33ins, 34ins and 35ins. The stock shaft is the KBS CT Putter 120 Stepless Black, and the stock grip is the SuperStroke Pistol 1.0 set 1° off axis. Loft is 2.5°, lie angle is 70° and head weight is 370g.
The Spider ZT counterbalance putter comes in lengths of 36ins and 38ins. The stock shaft is the KBS GPS Custom Graphite 155g, and the stock grip is the SuperStroke 2.0XL 13.75ins Round. Loft is 2.5°, lie angle is 70° and head weight is 395g.
The Spider ZT long putter is available in a length of 46ins. The stock shaft is the KBS GPS Custom Graphite 155g, and the stock grip is the SuperStroke 3.0 17ins Round. The loft is 2.5°, lie angle is 79°, and head weight is 470g.
