Alex Wrigley secures Nordic League card for 2017

Hartlepool’s Alex Wrigley has ended a solid year with success at Qualifying School for the Nordic League for 2017.

Alex, who also finished in the top 20 on this year’s EuroPro Tour, will play events in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden next term as he looks to finish in the top five in the order of merit and gain a card for the 2018 Challenge Tour.

“There have been a few peaks and troughs this year and a couple of close calls.

“The quality of my golf this season has been better and I’ve played more consistent golf throughout. I was in contention a bit in August and gained a lot from that experience – hopefully I can take that into next season,” said Alex, who will split his time around Europe next season and is looking forward to some different experiences having spent five years on the EuroPro Tour.

“It’s a tough qualifying process with two stages, the second one in the middle of nowhere in Denmark, from which the top 25 get a card. I’m looking forward to being out there, playing some golf in very different conditions and in some different places.

“I’ll also be fitting in with my girlfriend’s [Johanna Gustavsson] schedule on the Ladies European Tour and it’ll be great to be able to spend more time with her at home. I’ll be back for some EuroPro events too and there are a few events across Europe that I’d like to try and get into.

“I’ve had five years on the EuroPro Tour so I’m looking forward to getting a few different experiences and doing a bit more travelling while I have the opportunity to do it.”
