Hexham’s Susan Lam won the Northumberland County Veteran Ladies’ Golf Association Championship for the first time following a 1up victory in the event’s final at Ponteland.
Susan, who will go on to represent Northumberland in the Senior Women’s County Champion of Champions later this year, completed a hard-fought win over Arcot Hall-based Helen Cooper, the association’s vice-captain, on the third and final day of the championship.
Meanwhile, Alnmouth’s Claire Brown posted the leading gross score in the strokeplay qualifying round, and City of Newcastle’s Christine Elliott led the nett scoring.
