Ami Storey came close to victory in the English Women’s County Champion of Champions tournament.
The six-times Northumberland County Champion from Bedlingtonshire Golf Club produced the best round of the tournament with a 70 in the second round at Frilford Heath en-route to posting a four over-par total of 144. She had to settle for runners-up spot by just one shot as Somerset’s Hannah Woodley posted rounds of 71 and 72.
Nottinghamshire’s Libby Kilbride (Dore and Totley) was third, a further five shots back.
Storey claimed the Northumberland Ladies title for a sixth time by beating defending champion Rosie Belsham in the final at Bedlingtonshire to qualify for the Frilford Heath event.
