After six rounds of matches throughout the season, Hornsea’s Steve Uzzell and Matty Raybould were crowned Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs Inter-Club Foursomes champions.
Steve and Matty came through their semi-final with Silkstone to setup the final match with Halifax Bradley Hall’s Josh Bailes and Andy Appleyard at Pannal Golf Club. Josh and Andy made it to the final after their victory over Harrogate’s team in the second semi-final.
At Pannal, Steve and Matty got to 4up through nine before being pegged back to all-square after 18 holes. They then won the first three holes of the second round of the final, maintaining their lead through the 28th hole, extending it at the 29th, and ultimately closing out the match 3&1 after Matty chipped in on the 17th hole.
The win is Hornsea’s third in the event in the last four years following victories in 2022 and 2023. Steve has been part of all three victories, teaming up with Matty for the first time this season.
