South Moor Golf Club will host a charity golf day this summer in aid of NewstrAid, a charity which supports people who work or have worked in the sale and distribution of newspapers and magazines.
Organised by the charity’s North East Area Committee, the event will take place on Thursday May 11, with teams of four priced at £100 (or £25 for an individual player).
Tom Rodger, operations director for NewstrAid, said: “Our area committees do a fabulous job organising events and raising money for the charity all over the UK and we are delighted that the North East committee will be hosting a golf day this year. The money raised at this event will provide essential funding for our work, which is currently focused on providing support to colleagues who are struggling due to the cost of living crisis.”
Anyone interested in taking part in the golf day should visit www.southmoorgc.co.uk to book their place. The day will include bacon rolls on arrival, with tee times from 8am-1pm. There are prizes for the top teams and nearest the pins on the day.
Tom added: “We hope that a wide range of businesses and individuals from the local area will be able to join us for a wonderful day of golf which will raise money for very worthy cause.”
The North East Area Committee is one of 13 committees around the UK made up of people who currently work or have previously worked in the sale or distribution of newspapers and magazines. Their role is to raise awareness and funds for NewstrAid and they organise a wide range of events and activities – from quiz nights to sky dives. Visit www.newstraid.org.uk
