Titleist has released four new Scotty Cameron Phantom Black mallets – each made with tour-inspired modifications and featuring a Tour Black finish.
The new Phantom Black putters (SRP £729) will be offered in four models – the 5.5, 7, 9.2R and 11. These special release models showcase new, tour-developed setups, player-preferred shapes, custom alignment cues, unique shaft configurations, chain-link face milling, modern head weights, and the Tour Black finish.
“With last year’s B3 Triple Black Design LTD putters, we re-introduced our Tour Black finish on some very desirable blades,” said Scotty Cameron. “This time, we focused on the mallets, notably the Phantom models we most commonly modify for tour players. With the Phantom Black 5.5, 7, 9.2R and 11 mallets, we have created four new models that incorporate specific feedback from the pros related to alignment, overall shape, neck configuration and, of course, the Tour Black finish.”
Senior director of putter R&D Austie Rollinson added: “With the Phantom Black putters, we’ve created new models based on the prototype Phantom designs we developed for tour players. For example, the double bend shaft used on the Phantom Black 7 was crafted specifically for a player looking to emulate the way a plumbing neck provides alignment. Many players have ordered the Phantom 5.5 and Phantom 11 in our Tour Black finish with different alignment configurations. The Phantom Black 9.2R is a completely new model with a custom plumbing neck and rounded contours. Each Phantom Black putter is a response to a tour player request. From the Tour Black finish to new sight line configurations and neck designs, we’re excited to offer these tour-inspired models to dedicated golfers looking for a tour-like mallet putter.”
Each of the new models features the line’s Tour Black finish – a PVD treatment applied to the 303 stainless-steel putter head – as well as chain-link face milling.
The Phantom Black 5.5 maintains the popular mid-mallet’s wing-back shape and jet neck while incorporating a custom sight line configuration.
The Phantom Black 7 includes custom alignment features and a unique, double bend shaft configuration to promote a precise setup and near-face-balanced performance.
Designed with a custom sight line, rounded features and a custom 009-inspired plumbing neck that is slightly shorter and set farther back toward the heel for additional face awareness compared to the stock plumbing neck, the new Phantom Black 9.2R is a tour-inspired mallet in an all-new shape and setup.
The face-balanced Phantom Black 11 is a multi-material mallet with high MOI, stability and forgiveness. The setup includes a mid-bend shaft and parallel sight lines.
The line features performance balanced weighting with two customisable stainless-steel heel-toe sole weights. The 10g, 15g and 20g weights are matched to the associated putter lengths of 33ins, 34ins and 35ins. The loft on each model is 3.5 degrees and the lie angle is 70 degrees.
