Ryton team wins Durham Handicap Championship

The team from Ryton Golf Club clinched the Durham County Teams Handicap Championship at Seaham with a score of 209, beating Garesfield by five shots.

Thirteen handicapper William Henderson led the way with a round of 68, followed by John Reynolds (70) and two 71s from Malcolm Bell and Adrian Cooper – with the three best scores to count.

Garesfield’s 214 included an excellent 66 from Jacob Crowle, while Whickham finished third, also on 214.

Meanwhile, Wynyard and Eaglescliffe led the qualifiers for the Durham Clubs Championship at Ryton. The top 12 clubs qualify for the championship proper at Dinsdale later this year.
