The three-man Rotherham Golf Club team won the English Men’s Champion Club after 36 holes of action at The Oaks Golf Club.
The Rotherham team of Charlie Daughtrey, Lewis Hollingworth and Lucas Martin shot a team total of 10 over-par to beat their nearest rivals Henbury (Gloucestershire) and Moor Hall (Warwickshire) by just two shots.
With all three players’ scores counting towards their team total, Charlie finished with a two over-par score, with Lewis and Lucas both shooting four over-par to earn the Rotherham trio victory in front of home support in Yorkshire.
Moor Hall trio John Paul Banbury (seven over-par), Daniel Bardsley (seven over-par) and Rob Bardsley (two under-par) fought well to earn a T2 finish alongside Henbury – represented by Calum Mortimore (12 over-par), Michael Day five over-par) and Nick Day (five under-par).
Nick had a remarkable front nine on the final day, shooting a six under-par side of 30 on his way to a four under-par 64, which was enough to earn him the individual title by two shots.
Rotherham will go on to represent England in the European Men’s Club Trophy at Cabot Bordeaux on October 23-25.
