Woodsome Hall welcomes new vice-captain Richard Marshall

Richard Marshall, a member of Woodsome Hall Golf Club for nearly 30 years, has been announced as the club’s new gentleman’s vice-captain for 2026.

Born in Halifax, Richard started playing golf at West End Golf Club and was a member there for 15 years before joining Woodsome Hall. Richard’s father, John, is also a member and recently had a hole-in-one at the age of 80.

Richard joined Marshalls building products straight from university, where he worked in operations management in several factories in Yorkshire, Bedfordshire and Middlesborough. He is now responsible for managing and controlling the capital budget.

Golf and Woodsome have been a huge part of his life, and he played every Open Championship host venue by the age of 50. His sons, Nick and Dan, are also members at Woodsome, having come through the junior section.

Richard is also a committee member at Lascelles Hall Cricket Club, where he spearheaded fundraising and the building of a new clubhouse for the club’s 200th anniversary in 2025.
