A piece of golfing history was made at Seaton Carew on Thursday May 22 – when members David Scott and Richard Moody both holed out on the par three sixth hole while playing together.
With a fairly strong northerly wind blowing on the 169-yard hole, known as Mashie, Richard – who plays off a handicap index of 11.1 – used a driver while David – who is also an 11.1 handicapper – used a five-iron.
David, who is in his late 60s, and Richard, who is in his early 70s, have both been Seaton Carew members for more than 25 years. While this was Richard’s first hole-in-one, it was David’s third ace.
