Northern Golfer 116 out now

Northern Golfer #116 (Dec 25/Jan 26) out now

The Dec 25/Jan 26 edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region now

The 2025 golfing year has been a sensational one for golfers from across our region – and several of them are featured in our final edition of the year.

Two amateur golfers from the North East have shone particularly brightly in 2025. First, Longhirst Hall’s Charlotte Naughton produced a series of incredible performances this season – including becoming a world champion in Canada and representing Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup. Meanwhile, Consett & District’s John Kennedy grabbed the headlines this summer – winning two of the biggest titles in senior men’s amateur golf before making his international debut. Charlotte and John lead our look back at the 2025 season – which is packed with success stories across the amateur and professional games at the international, national, regional and local levels from January through to the final weeks of the year.

Meanwhile, the 24th edition of our Match Play Pairs tournament came to its conclusion at George Washington – with Roseberry Grange’s Bob Ellison and John Jamfrey winning on the final green and putting their names in the region’s golfing history books.

Elsewhere in this edition, we caught up with one of golf’s great entertainers, David Edwards, for A Round With. We’ve also paid a visit to the links of Hartlepool for our Course Profile, and put together two Special Focus features – covering away days and coastal golf courses.

We also have a new columnist to welcome – mental performance coach Chris Kirkland – along with the latest from Chris Paisley as his new career gets into full swing, and Rosie Belsham as she looks ahead to LET Q School in Morocco. There are also fantastic columns from Chris Simmons, Shawn O’Neil and Simon Olver to keep you entertained – along with the latest equipment news from several of golf’s biggest brands, and three new competitions to enter.
