The Aug/Sept 2025 edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region now
The latest edition of Northern Golfer is out now – starring John Kennedy on the cover. No player from our region has shone brighter this summer than John. The winner of The R&A Senior Amateur at Walton Heath and the Scottish Senior Men’s Open at Montrose – as well as the Durham Seniors’ Championship, the Inter-County Foursomes, the Durham Teams Championship, and the Consett & District club championship for the 14th time – John has been in stunning form in his first year on the over-55s circuit.
In team golf, the Northumberland women’s team produced a remarkable story of their own as they won County Match Week for the first time in 40 years. The team spirit and their unbeaten run to the title over three days at Hessle was remarkable, and we have four pages telling the story including a brilliant, personal reflection from county captain Julie Sampson.
Meanwhile, Dan Brown has won his second DP World Tour title; James Glenn and Ben Brown have won the Durham and Northumberland men’s county championships respectively; and Harrison Sewell has successfully defended the Northumberland & Durham Open trophy. We’ve also seen John Harrison extend his winning run as a professional to an astonishing 49 years, and we dive into the work that’s gone into the Durham boys programme over the last three years.
We’ve also got a Round With Dan Hase, the founder of Northern Ball Markers; and a visit to George Washington for our Course Profile.
There’s lots more in this edition too – including insights from all our columnists; the latest Gear news across seven pages; and the chance to win 1,000 range balls at High Gosforth Park along with rounds at Hartlepool and Pontefract & District.
It has been an incredibly busy, and successful, summer so far and we can’t wait to see who earns a place in the spotlight in our Sept/Oct edition.
