The Jun/Jul 2025 edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region now
The latest edition of Northern Golfer is out now – starring Matty Lamb on the cover. Having been asked several times over the last couple of years, ‘what happened to Matty Lamb?’ we decided to put the question to him. What he shared was an honest and completely open appraisal of his first four years as a professional golfer – from the highs of success to the lows of not wanting to be on the golf course. We can’t thank Matty enough for sharing his story so openly, and we hope you enjoy reading what he has to say about the last four years.
The region’s top golfers have been making the most of the early season weather – starting with Charlotte Naughton. While she’s been no stranger to success in the past few years, it was fantastic to see Charlotte win in Germany and represent the England women’s team for the first time in Spain. We’ll be cheering her on when she represents England in Japan in June too.
There’s a lot more golf to cover in Teeing Off and just some of the highlights include Amy Staveley’s win in the first North England Women’s Amateur at Seaton Carew and Goswick, Harrison Sewell leading his junior college team to victory in the US, and Garrick Porteous returning to top form over in the Middle East.
Our professional columnists – Chris Paisley and Rosie Belsham – have also been working hard in recent weeks. Meanwhile, tour caddy Sean Russell discusses what we can learn from golf on YouTube and how it can be time spent rather than wasted. While we’ve been revelling in the early summer conditions, Simon Olver has been considering what will happen if the drought continues and how clubs will have to deal with the pressures one could cause in the coming months.
We also have a visit to Gosforth for our Course Profile; a catch up with James Wilson in A Round With; and six pages of gear news covering everything that goes in your bag, how to get it around the course, and even some options for the bag itself. There’s also three fantastic competitions to be won, and lots more to enjoy.
