NORTHERN GOLFER #107 (JUN/JUL 24) OUT NOW

The Jun/Jul 2024 edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region now

The golf season is in full swing and we have a very busy edition of Northern Golfer for you – despite the weather!

Results have been pouring in over the last few weeks and we’ve picked out all the highlights for you in our latest edition.

There are a lot of wins to cover – from Garrick Porteous winning his second Challenge Tour title in Abu Dhabi, to wins for players including new Northumberland Ladies county champion Antonia Emmerson, and several of the region’s best PGA professionals.

We’ve also caught up with England Golf’s outgoing president Chris Pascall on her year in office; Charlotte Naughton on her fantastic final round at The R&A Girls’ U16s to force a playoff; and Rosie Belsham and Jess Baker – who have both graduated from college in the US and set their sights on turning professional later this year. Both Rosie and Jess have had fantastic runs in the US and at home in the last four years, and it was fantastic to hear they’re on track to join the professional ranks having covered their achievements – including wins in the Champion of Champions – over the years.

Speaking of the Champion of Champions, the events return to Longhirst Hall on September 15 and entries are open online now, with invites set to be emailed to clubs later this summer.

As well as covering the news, we’ve spent time at Seaton Carew as England’s 10th oldest golf club prepares to host the English Amateur championships in partnership with Hartlepool July 30-August 4. This will be one of the biggest events in the North East’s golfing calendar this year, and we’ve dedicated 10 pages to covering the build-up to the event and profiling the golf course before the best male and female players arrive in the region.

We’ve also caught up with Darlington-based PGA Tour player Callum Tarren, who again gave us a brilliant, frank insight into his start to the season and what he hopes to achieve on tour in the coming months.

There’s also a Round With Albatross Golf Holidays & Events founders Andrew Scrimshaw and Martyn Jobling; a look at the facilities created thanks to a new partnership between Linden Hall and Elite Golf Academies; a visit to The Lindisfarne Inn; a Special Focus on Yorkshire; Gear news; three new competitions to be won…

It’s a busy edition, enjoy it and make the most of the sunshine – we’ve waited long enough for it!
