The Apr/May 2024 edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region now
The golf season is here, The Masters is on our TV screens, and the Apr/May edition of Northern Golfer is available in golf clubs and retailers across the region – pick up a free copy or check it out online here.
The season is underway – despite the rain – and we have some early success stories to celebrate – not least a fantastic national win for Teesside captain Peter Scott in the HowDidiDo How Do We Beat It competition at Trump International. James Wilson and David Clark have also won on the NE/NW PGA circuit, and Slaley Hall’s men’s team have continued their 2023 success by winning the rearranged Dixon Cup. There’s also a lot more to look forward to, including the return of the PING Junior Masters.
We enjoyed getting out and about for this edition, and playing the stunning links at Lundin Golf Club was a real highlight.
It was also good fun to catch up with an old friend, Raymond James Monument’s Gary Fawcett, for A Round With. We reminisced about the first time we met over 10 years ago, shared stories of his questionable attire back then, and recorded some fantastic stories from his adventures on the golf course.
We’ve seen so many great players progress from junior events to elite amateur competition on both sides of the Atlantic, and seen lots of them turn professional. For this edition we’ve caught up with eight of the region’s best young male professionals, following on from a piece we did in 2023 which featured Rhys Thompson before he went on a record-setting run on the Tartan Pro Tour and ultimately claimed a Challenge Tour card for this season. Wouldn’t it be great to see a North East-based player do the same in 2024? Only time will tell, but our fingers are crossed!
The entry deadline for the 23rd Northern Golfer Match Play Pairs event – which has an enhanced prize package to be won thanks to our partnership with Albatross Golf Holidays & Events – is fast approaching. Click here before Sunday April 21 to be part of this year’s event.
There’s also a Special Focus on Scotland, three rounds of golf at top courses up for grabs in our competitions, WHS information, the latest Gear news, more great work from all of our expert columnists, and lots more.
Enjoy this edition!
